Research Studentships
Applications are invited for research studentships at the School of
Informatics, City University, London.
The research areas include software systems engineering, distributed
systems intelligent agent-based systems, human computer interaction, and
software reliability and other fields. See more detailed information
about the School and its research and teaching activities at
www.soi.city.ac.uk.
The studentships are earmarked for the Department of Computing
(www.soi.city.ac.uk/doc/doc.html), the Centre for Human Computer
Interaction Design (www-hcid.soi.city.ac.uk), and the Centre for
Software Reliability (www.csr.city.ac.uk). Two types of studentships are
available. The internally-funded (professional pathway) studentship (x3)
is open to both home and overseas candidates. The EPSRC studentship (x1)
has restrictive eligibility criteria, see www.epsrc.ac.uk.
Interested applicants should contact Dr Roman Hovorka,
[log in to unmask], Research Tutor, or preferably prospective
supervisors from any of the three Departments to discuss the research
project. The application form is available online
(http://www.city.ac.uk/ard/researchst/) or from the School Office (Ms
Tara McNicholas, School of Informatics, City University, Northampton
Square, London EC1V 0HB, [log in to unmask]).
The submission deadline is 26 April 2002. It is expected that successful
candidates will be informed in May with the intention to start the
research studies in October.
We are looking for well-qualified candidates to contribute to the
vibrant research culture within the School. The candidates will be
expected to teach or assist in teaching on the School's undergraduate
and postgraduate courses. This will be remunerated separately according
to the University official pay scale.
The Studentships cover fees and are set at the level given by the
Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (www.epsrc.ac.uk).
