Brazilian forum for the exchange of ideas and information about
human-computer interaction (HCI). It is the meeting place for researchers
from industry and the academy, designers, practitioners, educators, students
and others from a broad range of traditions and communities.
The IHC 2002 - V Symposium on Human Factors in Computer Systems will take
place in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil, October 7-10, 2002. It is sponsored by
the Brazilian Computer Society (http://www.sbc.org.br) and it will be held
in conjunction with the Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and Hypermedia
(SBMIDIA), the Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing
(SIBGRAPI) and the Symposium on Virtual Reality (SVR). All information on
past IHC events can be found at http://www.sbc.org.br/ihc/.
More information about the conference can be found at the end of this
message or at http://www.vdl.ufc.br/imigra2002/eng-ihc.shtml

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT IHC 2002
=========================================
IHC 2002 will cover all main areas of HCI research and practice, but will
focus on the conference theme of "Usability, a right". The idea is to
foreground the importance of usability in computing systems as a right for
every citizen in a society. Since people are obliged to interact with
systems for paying taxes, for voting, for banking, and so on, usability
should not be driven only by market forces. The conference aims to look at
the questions of consumer rights and the policies of government agencies and
computing societies to assure usability rights.
The technical program consists of invited talks, tutorials, panels and
technical paper sessions with topics of general interest. The technical
papers may be full papers (12 pages) or short papers (2 pages). Full papers
are the main category for complete research results meeting international
academic standards. Short papers are the main category for designers,
programmers, developers to report design cases, practical experiences or
on-going research.
