The Department of Economics at the University of Central Florida announces a
worskhop, "Economic Valuation of Health for Environmental Policies:
Assessing Alternative Approaches," Monday-Tuesday, March 18-19, 2002.
As you know, environmental economists often evaluate policies affecting
health using cost-benefit analysis, supported by monetary valuation in terms
of willingness-to-pay. In health economics, on the other hand,
interventions are often evaluated using cost-effectiveness analysis in terms
of quality-adjusted life years or similar indexes. This conference will
compare these approaches and assess their use for analysis of environmental
policies affecting health.
