I am preparing guidelines for those adding metadata to information
resources in a government context, and have hit a problem with
differentiating between 'spatial coverage' and 'date valid' in some
contexts.
An example is a local bus timetable that is valid between certain dates.
Should these dates be listed under Date.valid or Coverage.spatial? Both
seem equally relevant. Another example is a statutory instrument (for non-
UK people, this is a kind of temporary by-law) that allows a road to be
closed for a certain period of time. this is valid only for the time period
the orad is closed, but also only covers that period. I don't want to ask
people to repeat this data is two places.
Has anyone else found this has caused confusion, or can you venture an
opinio
