The USB adapters that come with MDs are one way, PC to MD, so the fact you
have a MAC rather than a PC makes no difference. Even the new NetMD
recoirders will not allow you to upload a live recording to PC. What you
need is a Griffin iMic. This is a USB device with a high quality analog to
digital converter. Connect the line out/headphone out on the MD to the iMic
and then plug the USB cable into the iMac.Play back the sound and rerecord
in realtime. Not sure what software Macs use as I'm on a PC. The iMic will
also, apparently work with PCs with some limitations. Supposedly works very
well with Windows 2000 and Windows XP - a very good alternative to using a
sound card. It costs $35 in the US - a real steal. You can buy direct from
Griffin but is fairly widely available I think.

Subject: adaptors for mini-disk players
Hallo all
After the recent very impressive technological discussion I have a small
request -
I have just recorded a focus group interview on minidisk (and very
impressive it was too), now I need to get it into my computer. I am working
on an iMac and I want to download the interview as a sound file to the
confuser. We have a sony USB digital audio converter (PCLK-U5) with a USB
Converter, an Optical Cable and a USB cable but it is not mac compatible and
I think it is only suitable for CDs... can anyone recommend a reasonably
priced adaptor or some such gadget for linking me minidisck recorder to me
iMac?
If there is nothing for macs I can use a PC but it would be awkward...
