Dear ALan,
In 1996 I had been suffering hip pain for 1 year with cause uncertain. I
went to a course on Connective Tissue Massage which happened to emphasise
the ITB. My friend treated me as part of the course (as my practice
partner). She did not treat me as vigorously as recommended as I could not
stand the pain. However, after 2 treatments I was able to lie on my R side
for the first time. 2 more treatments (all within the course) and I was
almost pain-free. I followed this at home with some laser. I had no further
trouble until this week when I have been doing some pretty energetic (and
unusual for me) gardening. I have been trying to give myself some CT massage
with some relief, but may well see if my friend is still doing this. I can
certainly recoomend it!
I have treated GENTLY many elderly patients who seem to have hip/back pain
approx 1 yr post THR, related to tight and painful ITB
