Project Officer (Revealing Cheshire's Past)
Chester £17,823 - £19,014 (pay award pending)
Based in Chester, this is a temporary opportunity for an archaeologist to
promote
greater awareness of Cheshire's heritage by providing archaeological
information in an accessible and exciting format to the wider community.
It is a two and a half-year, full time appointment, funded by the Heritage
Lottery Fund and Cheshire County Council, commencing in April 2002.
You will prepare information for touring exhibitions, museums and libraries,
fact sheets and a web site, providing summaries and interpretations of data
in the Sites and Monuments Record, currently unavailable to the wider
community. You will also prepare data for a public access database.
You should have a degree in archaeology and at least two years experience in
SMR related work or community archaeology. You should have a sound knowledge
of archaeology of all periods, the ability to write clearly and concisely
for a general audience and be familiar with GIS and MS Access.
