Carole,
Ian Milne uses them all here:
http://www.globalbritain.org/Docs/MW/1091_GB-P3.htm
David Heathcoat-Amory used them at http://www.wells.tory.org.uk/book6.htm
... the page is a bit old, but maybe within your time frame!
Mr. Thurnham talked about them in the Commons in 1995

A lot more up to date is this

How about an exam paper from Staffs?

So, not entirely smack bang up to date, but some fairly recent and reputable
use of the terms don't you think?

Subject: International trade terminology
For a few years now, since the change in the balance of payments
calculations, I've been encouraging students to use the terms "trade in
goods" and "trade in services" instead of "visibles" and "invisibles".
However, I've noticed that the words "visibles" and "invisibles" have
appeared in some recent publications for students. Are the old terms still
in use?
