INTERNATIONAL HUMAN FACTORS & THE WEB, 1ST EUROPEAN CONFERENCE official
announcement and Call for Posters, and Demonstrations submissions
"DESIGNING AND EVALUATING FOR THE WEB : METHODS FOR USER'S BEHAVIOUR MONITORING"
theme highlights knowledge about human behaviour and the Web, gained through
cognitive methods.
NICE, FRANCE (January 30, 2002) - The 'Laboratoire de Psychologie Experimentale
et Quantitative' LPEQ at the Nice Sophia Antipolis University today announced
the 1st International Conference on Human Factors & the Web and tutorials, to be
held March 16-19, 2002 at the Pôle Universitaire Saint Jean d'Angely, in Nice,
France.
The IntHFWeb 2002 web site, http://www.unice.fr/HFWEB/, was also announced.
IHF & Web is an international scientific conference with the purpose to provide
a forum for sharing information among a community of human factors engineers,
designers, and developers who are interested in producing web sites that are
more useful and usable.
The focus of the Conference is on knowledge about human behaviour gained through
cognitive methods, cognitive tracking and a new generation of Web tools, and how
they combine during Web conception and evaluation as well as other topics of
human factors interest.
10 selected papers will be presented (30 minutes + 15 minutes question and
answer). Participants to the conference, which is aimed at professionals in the
human factors and usability field, will be requested to pay an attendance fee of
Euro 75 (French Francs 492) to register.
SUBMISSIONS ARE REQUESTED for Demonstrations and Posters to be presented during
the conference day, and Tutorials being held following the conference.
DEMONSTRATION
Demonstrations proposals must provide an interactive forum for acquainting the
conference audience with new hardware, software, research techniques, and so
forth, often through hands-on experience. We especially encourage presentations
focusing on : "Tools for web usability testing and evaluation of customer
experience with special attention to real-time interactive systems (Cognitive
Tracking)".
POSTERS
Posters proposals must describe completed work, including reports on empirical
work, or reflections on what we have learned about designing for the web. In
addition to posters on general web design and web usability, we especially
encourage presentations focusing on topics such as:
- Usability studies of Web sites and E-Book
- Innovative design for electronic business
- Tools for web usability testing and evaluation of customer experience with
special attention to real-time interactive systems (Cognitive Tracking)
- New Technology for Web learning and Web Mining
- Usable design strategies and methodologies for E-commerce
- Web business application design for intranets, or business-to-business sites
All presentations should be in English.
DEADLINES are :
- for Posters and Demonstrations February 16, 2002.
Submissions will be reviewed by a committee of experts in human factors,
usability, and web design based on the originality of the submission, the
quality of the description, analysis or position, the support for the
conclusions (in either data or argument), and the usefulness of the contribution
to other practitioners.
The IntHFWeb conference is an event of the Human Factors and Ergonomics
Society's Internet Technical Group (HFES-ITG) and comes on the straight of
previous HFWeb conferences. Such noted organizations as Optavia, IBM and SBC
Technology Resources, NIST, AT&T Labs, US West Communications, Microsoft
Corporation, and SANDIA National Laboratories have previously hosted HFWeb
conferences.
