I'm very interested in prehistoric theory but my contribution is in
databases, maps and creating a public forum for research and discussion:
The Megalithic Portal is now one year old, clocking up a quarter of a
million pageviews in
that time. Now, after a lack of updates while the Portal was built, the
Megalith Map is (almost) back! Please try out the first stage of my
Megalithic Holy Grail, the integration of the map with the portal.

New features:
-------------
All types of site in database, not just stone circles and rows.
Basic filtering and sorting of which sites you want to see (to be expanded
with check boxes similar to Tom's CD-ROM)
Thumbnails where present (lots more to be added)
Old features not finished yet:
------------------------------
Clickable maps for the map squares, with dot plotting
Indication of extant stone circles
Obviously these last ones are quite big omissions but I'm working on them.
What is now there gives very much better geographical navigation of the
Megalithic Portal.

Brian Byng to the Megalithic Portal eGallery.

Here, for instance, is a superb shot of Langstone Moor stone circle, badly
wrecked when used as target practice by troops training for the Normandy
landings:
