NMAP - The UK's gateway to high quality Internet resources in Nursing,
Midwifery and Allied Health - http://nmap.ac.uk is celebrating having
served over 1 MILLION pages of information, since it's launch in April 2001.

By the end of January the figure had actually reached: 1,090,949

Over 1100 records are now included in the database, each of which gives
details of the Internet resource, and includes the title, URL and a short
description. Each record is also classified and indexed to make then easy
to find. Any search or browse of the service will also look for records in
the OMNI database (part of BIOME) - meaning that you are searching over
6500 records.

The popularity of the service is also reflected by the fact that over 2500
Web sites around the world link to NMAP.

To help the current staff, including those from the Universities of
Nottingham & Sheffield, RCN, RCM, CPHVA, CSP & COT, increase the number of
quality records, a full time service officer has now taken up her post
within the BIOME team.

User Evaluation

We would like to thank the 600+ users of the NMAP service who completed an
online evaluation questionnaire, during November and December 2001. These
are currently being analysed and will, in conjunction with other evaluation
work, help us to improve the service we can offer to you.

A prize draw was included for those who completed the questionnaire and 5
lucky people are currently enjoying their prizes;

Books to the value of £100 from Churchill Livingstone were won by Ray, a
Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing Studies at the University of
Northumbria in Newcastle.

A £75 voucher for books from Butterworth-Heinemann prize was won by Helen,
a student nurse from Oxford.

Mary a Senior Lecturer in the University of Nottingham School of Nursing
won books to the value of £100 from Blackwell Science, or a years
individual subscription to any of the journals they publish.

Bailliere Tindall"

Ann from London now has a year's subscription to a journal within the
Churchill Livingstone nursing range.

Further work

The work of making the NMAP gateway even better able to serve your needs
continues. To help us improve our coverage could you ensure that we include

We also have a couple of other new developments we hope to be able to make
