To Emmanuel Parton:
As sociologists we should be able to distinguish between different
roles. I agree that the Israel actions against Palestinians are
reprehensible and worthy of condemnation as state terrorism, but I
wouldn't bring this matter to the European Sociologist forum. On the
other hand, the raid on the Bureau of Statistics and its implications
are relevant for us as professional sociologists and here we can do
something as a professional body.

> Food water and shelter are also vital components of stable societies,
yet the Israelis bulldoze and shell palestinian settlements regularly.
Being able to have a party without a suicide bomber killing your relatives is
also a component of a stable society. To condem both sides of this conflict
seems fine but to single out a stats office as worthy of special treatment is
incomprehensible. As an aside how vital a component of stable society are
statistics offices? Or is this an example of blatent ethnocentrism?&
