So, are you suggesting that DOIs should not be encoded in DC metadata
currently - despite the fact that two encodings are in (fairly) common
usage at the moment - the URL form and the doi: form? It seems crazy, and
very unhelpful to people, to ignore those two forms of current practice.
I'm still confused by what you are suggesting the guidelines should say
at the moment. Asking them to adopt the urn:doi form is a longer term
option - but my guess is that they may well ignore any suggestion to do
this anyway.
I stand by my original suggestion for recommending both forms (or my
re-wording above) as reasonable recommendations at the current time.
