Most of the original research about paracetamol OD, talks about the "line
crossers", the group whose levels continue to rise, normally about 10% of
the sample groups - its well recognised, and for a number of reasons dosnt
seen to be clinically relevent - although they may well get an AST rise - we
just dont see it, cause we have discharged them. Possibly because their
levels go up more slowly they have the opportunity to replace there
glutathione stores - which is a continuous process anyway, hence their
relative toxicity is less.
