I'm still a big fan of the Psion 5mx
-not as sleek or sexy as the colour screen items and so is less of a target
for thieves
-has a keyboard that can easily touch type on
-takes a memory card (up to 250MB) so I've never lost any data from a crash
in over 4 years of continuous use
-EPOC OS is rock solid
-tonnes of freeware and shareware medical apps about
-synchronisation with a PC is good
-they handle word, powerpoint, PDF, HTML etc.
-I do my accounting on the hoof with them (ie: every time I buy something I
type it into the Money accounting software while waiting for my receipt) so
all I have to do at the end of the year is print the accounts out.
I've got 5 of these machines and rotate them if one or more need repair at
any time - all you need to do is take the memory card out of one and put it
in another.
I don't recommend the Revo for medical work because there is no backlight
and no memory card, so a crash may result in data loss. Also, medical text
books is still a problem (why OHCM is not out in an electronic cross
platform version I do not know!).
I've used these devices with portable printers to do pen-free GP and A+E for
four years now and if I didn't have them I would quite simply cease to
function!
