I know this is true and I don't want to be more specific for fear of being
locked up in the tower. It as told directly to me by the senior consultant in
the hospital concerned. The husband of a very senior member of royalty
presented to an A& E dept near to Windsor Castle with a splinter in the finger
late at night. He was told to go away and come back to next morning. He then
made some small talk about the chaps not earning much money and being
overworked and I understand asked how much he earned to be told it was none of
his business.
To cut a long story short when the story got out there was a group of the usual
sycophants ready to meet the senior person the next morning. When he arrived
he insisted that the SHO he saw the night before treated him as he had told him
the truth and he respected him.
