You're an honourable guy Robbie - but in reality if
you came into my A/E dept. I would see you quickly,
sort your problem and just step up a gear with the
others so they wouldn't suffer.
C'mon we need to get some privelages, but that implies
we've been sensible and come to the right place in the
first place and not presented unnecesarily.
I once saw an pratt junior ortho guy who barged into
the dept. with toothache: 3 hr waiting time, abused
the nurses to get seen quicker, we had 2 majors, and
then he (foolishly) swore at me because I had the
temerity to make him wait for his painkillers, (while
I led the resus going on at the time).
I "politely" asked HIM to leave the dept and see his
dentist.
I think concessions should be offered but we as
proffessionals shouldn't demand, it's another case of
"do unto others..."
Cheers Iain
