I think one of the basic principals of life is being overlooked here.
Emergency physicians are human afterall, and like Carter from ER come with
grannies/parents/siblings/friends/next door neighbours etc.
Of course we try and ease their pain/anxiety etc when they end up on our
doorstep. Not only is it a human instinct to help those we love , but it is
necessary for our own self purpose.
Just consider for a moment other professional disciplines;
-sporting events....best seats at a game
-theatre- the last seats at a concert
-air flight- family get discount fares to travel
the old sayimng of "it is who you know, not what you know which matters"
will always have credence. Thats life,
