I don't believe there is a need. These cookies are maintained in the user
session and are never written to disk. I don't believe the cookie controls
that come with most browsers have any effect on this (though I may be wrong
about this).
I respectfully disagree with your comment about using cookies. Their use is
an accepted practice for maintaining session awareness.
