Thom,

Since we have corresponded, I assume you are aware of the Bridges web
site (http://bridges.state.mn.us) and the DC metadata application used
in that gateway to Minnesota state environmental information.

Perhaps unusual in the development of a Dublin Core project, this site
and the project that engendered it (Foundations Project) has set the
stage for state-wide application of DC metadata. I am writing standards
language for the state to employ DC metadata as a state standard. We are
in the process of creating a new state portal (http://www.state.mn.us)
which will put this standard into effect. Also, leveraging of
DC.subject element brings up relevant information in the topics on our
Inktomi search engine (http://search.state.mn.us/).

dear colleagues,

thank you all for joining the dc-environment interest group. the
dc-env.
charter states that one primary goal will be to conduct a 'Survey on
usage
of Dublin Core in the environmental domain'.

i would like to initiate this survey by asking you to report any
dublin
core activities in the environmental domain that you are aware of.

we will compile the results into a small report and use it as the basis
for
taks 2: 'Develop guidance material for the use of Dublin Core in the
environmental domain'.

i'm looking forward to your responses.

best regards

thom
