Job Description A researcher is required for one year to help develop
materials for a Master's Training Package on Knowledge Management and
Knowledge Engineering. This training package will develop skills in the
various aspects of knowledge management and knowledge engineering, as well
as providing students with more generic skills such as group work,
presentation skills, use of the World Wide Web, etc.
The course will make use of the Internet for delivery of some training
materials. This will require development of Web-based teaching materials,
including slides, notes, articles, tutorials and practical exercises. These
must be developed and packaged within a suitable courseware system. We also
propose to develop an extensive case study of knowledge management and
knowledge engineering using video, audio, diagrams, and possibly specific
software tools. You will work with the PI and a senior researcher to make
existing materials available on the Web; to create, acquire and develop
materials for the case study; and to carry out research into methods,
techniques and applications used for knowledge management and knowledge
engineering and to write up the results of their research for likely
publication.
You will work inside the Centre for Intelligent Systems and their
Applications, part of the Division of Informatics at the University of
Edinburgh. The Division was rated as the only 5*A computing sciences
department in the UK in the recent Research Assessment Exercise, and has
recently been described as being “at the forefront of knowledge management”
by an authority in the field. Further particulars can be found at
