Description: This site contains a small collection of 1971 UK government
documents relating to British negotiations to enter the European Economic
Community. They include materials from Prime Minister Edward Heath and
suggestions on improving Anglo-French relations. They have been made
available on the Internet by the Public Record Office after their

Description: Russian Archives Online is an online collection of photographic
images, film clips and audio files of materials relating to Russia and the
nations of the former Soviet Union. It includes access to the online
catalogues, exhibitions of images and supporting documentation from a number
of leading institutions. These include: the Russian State Document and
Photograph Archive at Krasnogorsk; the Russian State Archive of Scientific
and Technical Documents in Moscow; the Hoover Institution Stanford
University Russian Collection, the Russian-American Center at the University
of San Franisco and the Russian Information Agency Novosti. All areas of the
arts, social and physical sciences are covered by the catalogues. They
include a large amount of political propaganda material from the Russian
Communist Party, the Russian Tsar, the Red Army and Russian cultural life.

Description: This site provides access to policy Briefing no.11 which was
published by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in December
2001. It discusses the 'war against terrorism' which was waged against Osama
Bin Laden and the Taliban government of Afghanistan in retaliation for the
September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. It is argued that unless the
international community pursues a regional strategy for rebuilding
Afghanistan the security of other central Asian states will be compromised
and the potential for the rise of future terrorist groups increased
