West Sussex DAT is keen to build on its implementation of the national drug
strategy at a local level.
Integral to the ‘Tackling Drugs to Build a Better Britain’ strategy, came a
recognition that local people know best what the particular problems are in
their community and how to tackle them. The ‘Communities Against Drugs’
grant provides the resources and support to enable communities to do
exactly this.
The seven crime and disorder reduction partnerships of West Sussex received
an allocation of £643,602.00 from the ‘Communities Against Drugs’ grant to
establish new measures to mobilise their local communities against drugs.
In partnership with the West Sussex Strategic Community Safety Partnership,
the seven crime and disorder reduction partnerships in West Sussex and the
Brighton and Hove Drug and Alcohol Action Team, the West Sussex DAT wishes
to invite expressions of interest to undertake the evaluation and
monitoring of the ‘Communities Against Drugs’ projects. These need to be
submitted by 14th March.
The aim of this will be to provide a broad insight into the extent of
project delivery, to assess whether or not the desired outcomes have been
achieved and to contribute to a robust exit strategy in 2004 which provides
recommendations as to which projects have had significant impacts on
tackling the local drug problems in the area and which require continued
investment.
