Hi all,
CALL FOR ESSAYS
I am looking for essays to form the chapters of a book to be titled
"Philosophical Counseling and the Unconscious."
Freud abandoned the use of the term "the unconscious" fairly early on
in the development of his model of mental functioning, but the concept
of the unconscious is still very influential in both conventional wisdom
and in clinical treatment methods. Possible chapter topics may discuss
any aspect of the topic including the following: What is the history of
the idea of an unconsious? How might motivation, personality,
emotions, dreams, hypnosis, mental health treatment, etc. be explained
without reference to an unconscious? Should unconscious factors hold a
more prominent place in mental health models? Does the possibility of
the existence of an unconscious make philosophical counseling only a
minimally effective approach? What about Jung's (and other) conception
of the unconscious? How should philosophical counselors view
reference to the unconsious?
Submissions may be sent as e-mail attachments readable in Word for
