CAQDAS NETWORKING PROJECT TRAINING
Introduction to Computer-Assisted Qualitative Data AnalysiS
2-day course, Tuesday and Wednesday, 26th-27th March 2002
The course is aimed at full-time and part-time workers on research projects,
social science academics, research officers in organisations such as social
services and nursing, as well as postgraduate research students. Current
participation in a research project or involvement in evaluation research
would be useful to get the most out of the course.
Course topics will refer to the types and conventions of qualitative method,
principal types of CAQDAS (text retrievers, code-and-retrieve but with the
main emphasis over the two days on theory builders), data preparation
considerations, coding strategies, discussion, practical demonstrations of
up to 5 packages, and hands on workshop in at least 3 packages. The software
featuring in demonstrations/workshops software will be drawn from N4
(NUD*IST Classic version) or N5, ATLAS.ti V4.2, WINMAX 9 Pro, MAXqda, QSR
NVivo 1.2, HyperRESEARCH V2.(or 2.5), The Ethnograph version 5.07. CISAID

*Places are available on each course at a reduced rate for those who work
for charitable bodies or educational institutions.
* A limited number of greatly reduced places are available to those
registered as Postgraduate students at a recognised institute of Higher
Education, who have no recourse to institutional or project funding
*Up to two free places are available for PG research students as above;
after that free places will only be awarded on a standby basis (in cases of
low demand or late cancellation) but these can only be allocated in the last
ten days.
