Hi all,
Just a quick note for those of you using/looking to use the Suresign watermarking system.
We have done quite extensive tests to determine the resilience of Suresign watermarking and have found it to be a very secure way of permanently embedding an electronic watermark in a digital image.
However, there is an issue that potential/present users may prefer to be aware of. The issue depends on which version of the software you have/intend to purchase. If you purchase the standard Photoshop plugin (around £500) you may find that certain images CANNOT be watermarked. The percentage of these 'un-watermarkable' images is quite low, around 1-2 in 1000 but still significant for those of us with large numbers of images.
The technical explanation for this problem is that, due to the natural fall of pixel data within any given image, some images appear to have a watermark already embedded so the plugin refuses to overwrite this "existing" watermark aborting any batch/individual processing.
I have contacted Signum Technologies, who make Suresign, and they inform us that for runs over 5000 images, users should look at purchasing their 'Industrial strength' product "Enterprise".
Enterprise has a feature that allows the pre-detection of watermarks to be turned off circumventing the problem mentioned above.
Thanks,
Daniel Merriman - Project Manager
