Job Purpose:
A Program Manager is required to work within the Disadvantaged Communities
Program at the Centre for Health Equity Training Research and Evaluation.
The purpose of the position is to undertake a review of the needs of the
public health workforce in working with disadvantaged communities and to
develop strategies to address these needs.
Duties:
* To work with the program steering committee and consultants to
review current literature and experience in:
* Undertaking workforce needs assessments within Australia and
internationally.
* Understanding and addressing locational disadvantage.
* To hold a forum of key stakeholders to identify generic processes
for undertaking public health workforce needs assessments and identification
of core skills.
* To develop a generic protocol for undertaking public health
workforce needs assessments and identification of core skills.
* To adapt and apply this protocol in assessing workforce needs
assessments in the area of locational disadvantage.
* To work with the program steering committee in ongoing development
of the program to develop strategies and programs to address identified
needs.
* To provide support to the program steering committee and working
group(s).
* To prepare reports and papers for publication.
* To participate in professional development activities.
Work Environment
It is envisaged that the position will be based 0.6 at the Centre for Health
Equity Training Research and Evaluation at Liverpool and 0.4 at NSW Health
in North Sydney but this may be able to be negotiated. The position will be
part of the Disadvantaged Communities Program within CHETRE.
Minimum Education Required:
Postgraduate qualifications in a health or social science related area.
Selection Criteria:
Essential qualifications:
* Demonstrated commitment to working in and with disadvantaged
communities.
* Experience in program management within public health or related
area.
* Experience in undertaking systematic needs assessments across
complex systems.
* Ability to work in a team and negotiate across institutions and
government / non-government organisations.
* Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.
* NSW driver's license.
Desirable qualifications:
* Experience in undertaking workforce needs assessments.
* Experience in developing education and training programs.
* Understanding of public health training systems.
