This is actually more complicated. If you pay to see the film, you've
already consumed, thereby adding to audience figures, film company profits
and, de facto, legitimised the message of the film (as far as the makers,
media etc. are concerned).
However you are right that it is very difficult to make fully informed
decisions without viewing. There again, do you really need to see everything
that Hollywood puts out, to understand that the vast majority is pushing
messages that attempt to reinforce certain cultural and political positions.
So go and see it, but try to get in without paying, then you can decide
whether you want to hand over your cash!
