Hello Michael and List,
I could'nt quite work out who you were replying to - to Ciaron (chap
prrotesting ion London), the NY ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism) or
myself. In any case, we've all seen the film.
Nevertheless, I do see your point. However, I would point out that it is
reasonably obvious to see that the film is a big-budget, Hollywood,
macho-action-fest, typical of many past US propaganda films. The writers,
films, books etc. which you have cited are/were largely (especially during
their time) marginalised critics/critiques and comments/commentaries on the
times. Black Hawk Down is none of these. On the contrary, it does not
challenge but consciously supports and reinforces the status quu of US
state-capital imperialism.
But I suppose you'd have to see the film to verify this!
Adieu,
David
