Further to the discussion about what types of metadata the survey should encompass,
I agree with both Phil and Aida. Aida is right in that there are other kinds of
metadata than learning object metadata and I agree that we should include a question
about whether people are using other types of metadata schemes.
However it is my understanding (and Jenny can correct me here if she disagrees) that
the primary remit of both CETIS and the SIGs is to support the implementation and
uptake or learning technology interoperability specifications within UK FE/HE. If
this is the case then the type of metadata used by museums for example, though
relevant, is out of scope. Consequently I would argue that while the questionnaire
should include a question on other types of metadata its main focus should be on
learning object metadata schemes of the type that Phil lists below.
Just a suggestion - feel free to disagree!
