As the authors of the trial state, there are numerous methodological flaws
in this trial (not least in that it used controls and interventions in
different years- for some reason their LREC thought this preferable to a
RCT). There were more patients in the non VF/ VT group in the controls. The
authors suggest that their results support a proper RCT rather than a change
in practice. On a more personal note, we tried this in Stoke a few years
back with no survivors while I was there.
