Childhood and Postwar German Literature and Culture
Scholarship in child studies and children's literature seems to
agree that a paradigmatic shift in the conception and
representation of children and childhood took place in the 1970s.
What effect-if any--has this shift had on the representation of
childhood in mainstream Austrian, German, and Swiss literature
and culture?
Possible approaches to the topic:
* The representation of children and childhood in texts for children
and for adults
* Comparisons of the representation of children and childhood in
different genres, across time, in high and popular culture, for
different audiences
* Literature crossing/redefining/erasing age barriers
* Autobiographical writing
* Childhood and the culture industry
* The representation of children and childhood in art and the visual
media
