Philip Lieberman, an acoustic phonetician who has long been interested
in the evolution of language, has written a fascinating and provocative
article, "On the nature and evolution of the neural bases of human

I'm pretty sure Joe and Dick will be very happy with much that is there
(and I'm not unhappy either). Since Lieberman is not a paleontologist,
I've asked a colleague who is to read the article and let me know of
any dubious points/claims in that area. Perhaps Joe knows a neurolinguist who
could give the article a similar going over from her/his vantage point.
