I have a different but related question. Has anyone done any
research on how undergraduates go about looking for *PhD studentship*
opportunities? Also how do post-docs look for *postdoc positions* ?
For us, jobs.ac.uk seems to be the main route by which our PhD
students find out about our studentships. I'm also aware that
http://www.findaphd.com and http://www.scholarship-search.org.uk are
other sites where some Univs advertise. Nature and New Scientist are
other places that scientific PhDs are advertised. And of course in
principle students may use regular search engines and find our
listing of studentships on our own site.
Research into the behaviour of students when seeking academic posts
and the effectiveness of different routes of advertising
(particularly those that charge at the higher end of the scale) would
be very helpful.
Any pointers would be gratefully received.
p.s. I did try contacting JISC Assist but didn't have any success
there.
