I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the issue of link management software/scripts. By this, I don't mean a link-checker - Xenu & others do
a great job. I mean links database software that can handle links across
multiple categories, allow multiple (authorised) users to add, rate and
review sites and show popular and top-rated sites etc etc.
I have come across the commercial offerings DCIndex, Indexfinger, eLinks,
Links, Turbo Seek, In-links, Hyperseek and Link Manager as well as
freebie/shareware PHP or CGI alternatives. Any others I haven't
mentioned? Does anyone know of a decent comparative review of the software
available or used it themselves?
I signed up as a beta tester for Scout Portal Toolkit, but we haven't
installed it yet. It looks pretty good though, and they're responding to
user suggestions. Has anyone else beta-tested it? Or are you all using
custom-designed scripts...? I looked at ARSdigita as a combined site
management/link management option - but could Zope fit the bill?
Many thanks
Kylie
