This is an exciting opportunity to work within the University's Innovation Online project, which aims to assist businesses with innovation and new technology by providing consultancy and an online information service with support for virtual communities.
Web Designer (Fixed-term)
The successful candidate will enjoy an interesting mixture of design and co-ordination responsibilities including the provision of advice and hands-on support for small companies. Duties will range from performing reviews of companies' current Web capabilities to the production of new or improved Web sites, incorporating graphic design, Web page building and project co-ordination. There will also be opportunities to develop skills in e-commerce and database-enabled systems and to co-ordinate the activities of external suppliers and consultants. In addition, the person appointed will contribute to the further development of content management facilities to support business communities through the InnovationOnline Web portal.
Candidates should have a first degree or equivalent in a relevant subject with experience of Web design; familiarity with Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks and other design tools will be an advantage. Web Technologist (Fixed-term)
The InnovationOnline project is developing new information services and interactive tools plus facilities for online community building. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of an online database of research expertise using html and Web-enabled SQL database systems. Duties will also include the further development of the InnovationOnline Web portal and its editorial support systems. The portal will provide virtual facilities to support business communities collaborating with universities and research centres. In addition, the person appointed will work with individual businesses to assist with the development of their company Web presence.
Candidates should have a first degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and experience of working with Web-enabled databases. Familiarity with Web development and technologies such as SQL, ASP/PHP and XML, is desirable and an understanding of online information systems and data interoperability issues will be an advantage.
