Oh, dear! I went back and had another look at ALA and you're absolutely right. With my 17 inch, 800x600 setup (sigh) it looks fine and I find the
'large serif' style switcher works well on IE 5.5. I'd forgotten they
wrote that article on Give Me Pixels, which is extremely misleading for
anyone struggling with the myriad of stylesheet font choices - that would
be me a year ago. I went and looked at it again and noticed this quote "On
ALA, we err on the side of flexibility and accessibility". Hmmm.
The site does look rubbish in NN4, but that's a deliberate choice as part
of the campaign to make users upgrade their browsers, isn't it?
