Another package that will generate organisation charts from data files is MS
Visio. It is happy to digest several file formats, but as far as I can see
it has the same drawbacks that Richard identifies with Org Publisher.
I'd be happy to be contradicted!

Subject: Re: Organisational structure charts
This is a recurring nightmare for me... We're presently having charts
produced in various packages, some of them obsolete ones such as Snap
Graphics, then go through hoops converting them to .jpg for publication on
the Intranet. Its bad enough doing this once - but ofcourse they are
continually having to be updated!!
One solution I've seen is a package (there are others) called Org Publisher
(www.timevision.com) A Windows desktop application that makes very nice
charts but can also interface with various HR programmes such as
PeopleSoft, and build up the charts directly from your Human Resources
database.
Being a desktop application, means you still have to run the thing manually
to build and publish charts. What I'd really like to find is something
that sits on the web server and builds charts, or at least updates the
details of them , dynamically on demand.
If anyone knows how this might easily be accomplished, I'd be happy to hear
about it.
