Brisbane City Council and the Queensland State Department of Housing
(Australia) are currently exploring opportunities for caravan parks to
become stable suppliers of affordable housing. Consistent with other world
cities, caravan parks in Brisbane City are playing an increasingly
important role in providing housing of last resort. At the same time,
there is a trend towards the closure of caravan parks in favour of
redevelopment and for other reasons that are not well understood. This is
placing the supply of caravan park accommodation in our city at risk.
The study aims to explore the scope for responses within Council's
regulatory responsibilities, program initiatives and community advocacy
role; and the proposed State Planning Policy for Affordable Housing, and
other relevant State government initiatives.
We are interested in hearing from other Councils/Governments and community
groups/organisations about approaches to this issue.

Thanks in advance for your help.
