Dear all,
I have heard that the word "slum" is derived from a Scandinavian word for
low-lying ground.
Can anyone please provide me with more information about this derivation and
how it came about
that it is used to describe "an overcrowded and squalid area in a city and
inhabited by very poor people" ?
