Colleagues
You may like to be aware of this event caused by the recent Telco collapses.
In principle you shouldnt notice, but please let the PPNCG know
if you observe any problems w.r.t. connections to the US
Please forward to your colleagues in your institute who may be affected.

Subject: JANET traffic to Abilene & ESnet routed via GEANT from next
Tuesday
Peter, Richard,
Would you circulate to HEP,
Thanks,
David
--------------------------------------
Recent tests to route JANET traffic destined for the US Abilene and ESnet
networks via GEANT were successful, and although the route subsequently
reverted to the direct path via the Teleglobe circuit, a permanent change to
use the GEANT path is now scheduled for next Tuesday's (25th June)
operations "at-risk" period. If people detect problems following the change
these should be reported through the normal operational channels.
This change has been ticketed, but please pass the information to any
colleagues who may be interested.
It should be noted that there will be further changes to the traffic paths
over the next few weeks as DANTE make new arrangements for the connections
between GEANT and the US. These are likely to cause additional small changes
to the minimum link latencies.
