Subject: NeSC News- Web Services Week
Dear All
We are pleased to announce a web services week at the e-Science Institute in
Edinburgh, commencing on 18 March 2002.
The week will kick off with a Tutorial on XML (ToX 1), a one-day tutorial
for people with little experience of defining and using XML Schema. Thus
tutorial is open to all who are participating in, or plan to participate in,
the UK e-Science programme. If you plan to attend the Workshop on Web
Services (WoWS 1, below), and you are not fluent in XML Schema specification
and use, then you should attend this tutorial.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, 19 - 20 March, we will be holding a Workshop on
Web Services (WoWS 1). This workshop is open to any members of the UK
e-Science community, as well as to those engaged on European Union funded
grid projects. We are hoping that people already actively engaged in Web
Service development will come to share experience, and adequate time will be
made available for communication. We also wish to invite those who wish to
get started with Web Services (it is assumed that participants will be
familiar with topics covered in ToX 1).
The week will end with Getting OGSA Going (GOGO 1), on Thursday and Friday,
21 - 22 March. This will be a workshop where all participants will be
expected to actively engage in the work, to help develop our joint
understanding, and to plan articulation of our various activities. We will
also plan follow-up events. We expect that the majority of participants
will already be actively engaged in OGSA-related work or planning to enter
into this activity.
Online registration for these events is available now, along with further
details, at our web site: http://nesc.ac.uk.
Best Regards,
Andrea
