Subject: Final Call for Papers ICCS'03

THE 3rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPUTATIONAL SCIENCE

**** December 10   Deadline Paper Submission !!! ****

This is the final call for Papers for the regular tracks in the ICCS
2003 conference.

After the successful ICCS conferences in San Francisco and Amsterdam we
are now organizing ICCS 2003:

A Bi-location event: June 2-4 2003

Melbourne (Australia) AND St. Petersburg (Russian Federation)

WEBSITE: http://www.science.uva.nl/events/ICCS2003/

Over 30 Special Topic Workshops will be organized at this event (see
webpages) !!

Details of the conference and the submission procedures can be found
below and at the conference web sites.

Important Dates
---------------

- December 10 2002 Deadline Paper Submission Conference
- January 17th 2003 Programme committee meets and decides on acceptance
- February 1st 2003 Notification to Authors
- February 15th 2003 Revised versions of accepted papers
- February 15th 2003 Final versions of Workshop Papers
- March 1st 2003 Camera ready papers (conf. and workshop

- June 2-4 2003 Conference at bi-location Melbourne and St. Petersburg

Introduction
------------

Computational Science is increasingly becoming a vital part of many
scientific investigations, affecting researchers and practitioners in
areas ranging from engineering, sciences, finance and economics.

New challenges are in the fields of modelling of complex systems,
sophisticated algorithms, advanced scientific computing and associated
(multi-disciplinary) Problem Solving Environments. Due to the sheer size
of these challenges the use of super computing and distributed- and grid
basedprocessing is inevitable.

The Conference offers the opportunity to discuss problems and solutions
in this field, to identify new issues, and to shape future directions
for research.

We invite you to submit a:

   o full paper of 6 to 10 pages (Letter or A4 paper) for oral
      presentation

   o proposal to organize a technical session, workshop or
      mini symposium.

Submitted papers have to be original, containing new and original
results.

Topics of Interest
------------------
The ICCS conference will, among other topics, concentrate on (in no
particular order):

* Complex Systems: Modelling and Simulation
*  Hybrid Computational Methods
*  Grid Computing
* Data Mining and Information Retrieval
* Web- and grid based Simulation and Computing
*  Parallel and Distributed Computing
*  Visualization and Virtual Reality
* New large scale simulation application areas:
        *  Finance
        *  Economics
        *  Biology
        *  Chemistry
        *  Risk Analyses
* New Algorithmic approaches to existing application area's, e.g.:
        * Weather and Climate Forecasting and Modelling
        *  Connectionist Modelling
        *  Fuzzy Logic
        *  Reliability Engineering
        *  Digital Imaging
*  Scientific Computing
*  Advanced Numerical Algorithms
* Problem Solving Environments (including: Software Component
Technology) * Education in Computational Science

Paper Submission
----------------
The submitted paper must be camera-ready and formatted according to the
rules of LNCS. See http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html for
formatting information. Papers should be of length between 6-10 pages.

For all details with respect to the electronic submission see
http://www.science.uva.nl/events/ICCS2003/.

Proceedings
-----------
The proceedings of the Conference will be published in the
Springer-Verlag Lecture Notesin Computer Science (LNCS) series. A
selected number of papers will also be published as special issues in
appropriate journals.

Organization
------------
ICCS Steering Group:
Peter Sloot (Universiteit van Amsterdam, the Netherlands)
Jack Dongarra (Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA)

Conference Chairs:
David Abramson (Monash University, Australia)
Alexander Bogdanov (IHPCDB, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation)

Programme comittee chairs
Chair: Albert Zomaya (University of Sydney, Australia)
Co-Chair: Yuri Gorbachev (IHPCDB, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation)
