Forthcoming course at The British Universities Film & Video Council

---------------------------------------------------------------
USING AUDIO VISUAL RESOURCES IN FURTHER EDUCATION - NEW COURSE
---------------------------------------------------------------
5 February 2003
Presenters: Luke McKernan, Sergio Angelini, Murray Weston (BUFVC).

Nearly one third of BUFVC membership are in the Further Education sector.
The BUFVC recognises that these colleges have different resources and
support needs when compared to Higher Education institutions. To assist
these members, the BUFVC Information Service has developed this one-day
course giving an introduction to locating and using audio visual resources,
which is aimed specifically at the Further Education community.

The course programme includes sessions on:

* how AV media can assist learning and teaching in FE colleges
* forms of delivery of AV media - film, video, DVD, audio, CDs,
streamed/downloadable media
* off-air recordings of TV and radio programming
* copyright (including education exceptions)
* specialist producers of material of interest to FE
* BUFVC Services
 - including the online resources TRILT, HERMES and the Moving Image Gateway
* MAAS Media Online

Delegates will have opportunity to view the Council's facilities while here
and network with colleagues in similar positions. The Information Service
would also like to gain feedback from FE staff telling us how we may learn
from them and how best we can meet their needs.

Venue: BUFVC, 77 Wells Street W1
Intended audience: librarians, audio visual and computer service providers
in further education institutions

Course cost, including a light lunch and refreshments:
£40 (+ VAT) to BUFVC members/staff in BUFVC members institutions,
£80 (+ VAT) for non-members.
