Well stated, Bob. I have heard that good poets borrow, but great poets
steal. I am glad you are fascinated by freshness and newsiness as I am and
also that search for the word that is just right, the story of the three
bears brought to life on the page. This word is too hard; this word is too
soft, and this word is just right. It takes time and love of poetry.
Workshops to me are often valuable because they keep me from getting
complaisant; they keep me on my toes and aware of all the different
viewpoints of various readers. Once in a while they cause me to rethink a
whole line and see that I must omit it because the effect upon the reader is
not what I intended. Plus, I get to meet such fantastic people, caring,
well-read people, and that is very important in this hurried world. I
appreciate you and all your thoughts and comments. They are valid and
valuable. Sue
