Wast Water ( pronounced with short Northern vowels ), England's deepest
lake, is situated in West Cumbria on the western edge of the Lake District
National Park. It is the source of the River Irt -- Roger
These are great names, straight out of the Book of Doom. I love place
names. Checking some in my Wide Highway bit, in the Smoky Mtns of Virginia,
I found Cowpasture, Bullpasture and Calfpasture Creeks.
We do use place names enough, even those like Gorst ( town W of this spot).
