Dear Arthur,
Didn't Michelangelo say that he saw the figures in the blocks of marble,
and simply released them?
I must say I think it's difficult to make any statement about poetry that is
universally true.
I think sometimes writing a poem is building something up -sometimes from a
very unpromising starting point- and sometimes about scraping away.And
sometimes like sticking your finger in an electric light socket.
