Hi grasshopper,
It's difficult to make comments when I haven't seen more than 5 minutes of
one of the programmes! But...
The stress you put on Jupiter, Jovain, jovial must be really, really,
significant (cos it gets so much repetitious sound in the poem), am I right?
And I don't know about any legend linked with the names that would tell me
about Fate... (so maybe I should go and do some research! or does the poem
need a footnote?)
And the (almost hidden) cliche about the tapestry (the rich tapestry of
life?) makes me wonder why it's there, wonder if tapestries feature in the
TV programme, if tapestries were woven in Jupiter's day, or if your father
wove them when he worked nights!
But these are questions based on ignorance, based on the point that a
stranger might ask when faced with the poem.
I guess I ask because if I didn't know anything about the TV programme I
would be even more at a loss after reading the title (and would be thinking
of an Opera featuring some myth about Jupiter or Jove).
At least you've made me realise how significant first impressions of a poem
can be!
Bob
