Hello James,
This was an interesting piece which has an atmosphere of its own but I felt that some of your ideas didn´t come across fully. I was a bit lost by, for instance the `taunt to anglers´, I don´t know what it was. I didn´t understand the phrase `the Spey cast her would-be burlesque´, and later the `unsavoury arabesque´ had me wondering. I think the phrase `occasional attention to ambient / movement´ is a bit of a mouthful. So I found that I was having to do too much guessing. Either that or I have been very obtuse. On the positive side, as I said, there is an atmosphere that I liked, I wonder if you can make it more immediate. I liked the lines, `their attention to water level / is much older than their passing moment.´ I took this to refer to the fascination that water holds for us to be more, should I say deep?, than the specific action of fishing, but I´m not sure if I´ve got it right. Hope this helps.
Best wishes, Mike
