Hi Mike,
There is good and not so good here, that in the question. Sorry, no pun
intended. Inevitably there are going to be comparisons made between to
soliloquies of Hamlet already recorded by dear Will. I was wondering what
kind of pitch is being made here. Was the poem written and then the title
appended or did the idea of doing a bit of a Stoppard in verse come first?
This is the question. Is this an academic conceit? Is it trying to emulate
the tone that Will puts into the mouth of Hamlet? These apparent
contraditions tended to throw me off somehow. The other contradiction was in
the inconsistent rhyme pattern. To be really good I think this piece needs
to be looked at again though I feel it is on the way, where too I'm not
sure, but on the way to realising its own potential as recorded by Mike.
Hope this helps.
